The effect of supplementation with molasses on steers grazing fertilized Pangola grass was studied during 1972-5 over the period of active pasture growth. In experiment 1, ad lib. supplementation (5.5 kg molasses/steer day) increased liveweight gain by 36 kg over 120 days during summer/autumn. In experiment 2 there was no response to molasses/urea/P supplementation in the spring. In experiment 3, restricted (2.1 kg/steer day) or ad lib. (9 kg/steer day) supplementation with molasses/urea/P increased steer liveweight gain by 24 and 39 kg, resp., over 141 days during summer/autumn.
