Research Groups
The Commission has the possibility to establish, "temporary, special or standing committees to study and report on matters pertaining to the purpose of the Commission". The only standing Committee established at present is the Research Group (RG) of the Standing Technical Committee, which meets every year.
Once every two years the Group holds an open meeting with observers, the other year being a closed meeting for the members of the Group only. The RG studies and reports on subjects submitted for examination by the Executive Committee or by members of the Group. The number of members in the RG is decided by the General Session. The membership for the period 2005-2007 as elected at the 36th General Session is as follows:

The chairman reports the conclusions and recommendations of the group to the Executive Committee and the General Sessions of the Commission. The next Research Group meeting is scheduled to be held in Eilat, Israel, from 16 to 20 October 2006.
