A two-day meeting of the Global Steering Committee for the FAO/OIE joint program to combat transboundary animal diseases, known as GF-TADS, was held on 16 and 17 October at the OIE headquarters in Paris. It marks the fifth meeting to take stock of progress made to date and future directions for GF-TADS, or the Global Framework for the Progressive Control of Transboundary Animal Diseases. This special meeting included the presentation of the Global Action Plan which addresses the animal diseases and cross cutting topics identified as ‘priority’ for the global level by the GF-TADs GSC and Management Committee, as well as the regional Action Plans illustrated by the GF –TADs Regional Secretariats. The regional Action Plans were endorsed by the Steering Committee member.
