This present example shows once again the impossibility of a proper enforcement of the requirements of Council Regulation EC 1/2005 for long-distance transport of live animals. The violation of legal requirements such as the absence of individual stalls, of halters, and possibly the transport of unbroken horses over a long distance, caused once again unnecessary stress and suffering to the animals, causing a dangerous situation which did not take into consideration the behavior of the animals, their ethological nature and needs . The safety of these horses was not ensured.
