Animals’ Angels Welfare Report Loading of the MV Ocean Drover 24-25 September 2012 Fremantle Western Australia
Animals' Angels is recognised as a key stakeholder in the live export industry in Australia. Its charter includes monitoring sale yards, short and long distance transport, and live animal export for compliance with relevant laws; to report non-compliance and poor practice to relevant authorities, and to provide ongoing education. In general, there has been, and continues to be, poor and inconsistent enforcement of the ASEL and the Act in the live export chain. As a consequence, Animals' Angels continues to monitor livestock trucks arriving at the Port in the absence of adequate oversight of the transport of animals, unloading, and individual animal inspection process by State and Commonwealth authorities, and by the AQIS Accredited Veterinarians (AAV) employed by the exporters.
