Essay on traceability
For the information of all interested, FAO has recently prepared an essay on traceability, including 3 case studies related to traceability implementation in developing countries, its possibilities and its constraints. This essay is NOT an official FAO publication and does not necessarily reflect FAO’s position on the matter, but is provided for information of all interested parties. The subjects of the case studies include 1) production of bovine meat; 2) pistachio production; and 3) organic agricultural products.
Chapter 1 on Pre-requisites for Traceability has been updated as much as possible as of June 2005, but the case studies reflect the status of the indicated situation in 2003.
