Street food

Dietary habits and traditional meal patterns change when persons move from a rural to an urban environment. To cater to busy urban lifestyles, cities offer access to a variety of foods outside the home from sources such as street foods, restaurants, kiosks, etc. Household revenue from employment in the informal street food sector can be a significant source of income for many families. Although a wider variety of food is available in urban areas, the food consumed is not necessarily superior in nutritional quality. Food safety is a growing concern in many urban environments.
