This is Professor J Ralph Blanchfield again.

I agree with Caroline Smith DeWaal's comment on the need for experts and Secretariat staff to have specific guidance as to the range of "financial and non-financial interests including public statements, consultancies, honoraria, legal testimony, etc" that should be declared. However, I would add to that catalogue, membership of an advocacy organization.

I also consider that when an expert panel is intending to discuss a topic, any panel member having a relevant interest should at the outset remind the panel of that interest.
