Message from the Moderator

At the end of the first complete week of the e-forum, active participation is increasing progressively and we now have comments on each of the 10 papers as well as discussion on several of them. Our thanks go to everyone who has contributed so far and we look forward to hearing from more of you during the forum.

Dr Groth took the excellent initiative to introduce himself before giving his comments and suggested that other participants might do the same. Several of you have followed his example and we would like to encourage everyone who sends comments for the first time to give a few lines of personal introduction. This adds interest, promotes contact and enlivens the discussion.

It would be helpful if senders would please not forward previous messages or extracts from the discussion papers. This will avoid lengthy messages and possible confusion where the source of the forwarded material is not obvious.

Newcomers to the e-forum will be able to see the comments received so far on the FAO/WHO website on Monday 13 October. After that, comments will be posted at weekly intervals.
