The FAO Food Safety Expert Roster is being established as part of FAO's
ongoing efforts to improve and strengthen their procedures for the provision
of scientific advice to the Codex Alimentarius and to member countries.
The creation of this roster of experts will contribute to transparency, which
is one of the guiding principles in the process of providing scientific advice.
It aims to streamline the expert selection process and provide timely feedback
to those interested in participating in activities related to the provision of
scientific advice. The roster also aims to facilitate access to a wide range
of experts and scientists in terms of technical skills, sector, geography and gender.
The criteria for selection of experts will be issued together with periodic "Calls for Experts"
when FAO requires appropriate expertise to address a specific food safety issue.
