productivity. Graphs on the right side show the Normalized Difference
Vegetation Index (NDVI) seasonality for six selected areas with contrasting
patterns. The NDVI is a surrogate of the primary productivity (ANPP) and
then of stocking rate (Oesterheld et al. 1998).
