Measuring around 70 ha, the almost
perfectly flat Kamilombe market garden
curls along the Kafubu river about 2 km
south of Kilobelobe. Here, the area's
300 market gardeners grow cabbage,
celery, capsicum, onion and leek
practically all year round. Traders come
from the city to harvest produce and
consign it to transporters, who haul it
by bicycle to Pande market, 12 km away.
Annual vegetable production
is estimated at 14 500 tonnes.
