The Rural Infrastructure and Agro-Industries Division (AGS) provides technical support to the Government of South Sudan to increase agribusiness in Upper Nile State

During March 2012, AGS provided technical support to the Government of South Sudan in order to define intervention strategies that lead vulnerable communities into greater income generation and food security through greater participation in agribusinesses. This is part of on-going work in the context of project GCP/SUD/068/CAN - Sustainable Food Security Through Community-Based Livelihood Development and Water Harvesting: Jonglei and Upper Nile States, South Sudan - funded by CIDA and implemented in partnership with the Ministries of Agriculture, Livestock and Labour and UNIDO. The focus of the assistance provided is to increase productivity and competitiveness through the use of enhanced agricultural tools and the establishment of marketing and financing mechanisms for promising local agribusinesses. Project activities will cover Upper Nile and Jonglei State, benefitting over 5,000 households with a budget of CAD15 million.
