Calls for papers: Meeting urban food needs

CALL FOR PAPERS 01/14
Understanding complex food systems meeting urban food needs: methodological approaches and disciplinary contributions
The cross-cutting project “Meeting urban food needs” of FAO  has launched a call for papers on the topic mentioned above.
Selected papers will be used to stimulate further interdisciplinary discussion and research on the contribution of different disciplines and to critically review FAO’s current methodology.
FAO will select at least five authors among those whose papers will be published (one author per paper) and will invite them to attend an expert meeting in FAO-Rome in 2015. Travel expenses will be paid by FAO while all other expenses will have to be covered by the invited participants.

CALL FOR PAPERS 02/14
Improvement of food-related infrastructure at wholesale and retail levels good practices and lessons learnt
The cross-cutting project “Meeting urban food needs” of FAO, in collaboration with the World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) and the Sustainable Society Network (Imperial College London), has launched a call for papers on the topic mentioned above.
Selected papers will be useful in disseminating selected good practices and lessons learnt in a variety of countries on the development and/or improvements in food-distribution infrastructure of any size.
Authors of selected papers will receive a grant from FAO of US$ 1,000 (per paper) to help defray the costs of producing them.

CALL FOR PAPERS 03/14
Complex-systems dynamics principles applied to food systems
The cross-cutting project “Meeting urban food needs” of FAO, in collaboration with the University of Turin, has launched a call for papers on the topic mentioned above.
Selected papers will stimulate discussion on how a complex-systems dynamics perspective can contribute to the understanding of the characteristics, structure, performance and behaviour of food systems meeting urban food needs and to the formulation of appropriate policies, strategies and investments plans.
FAO will select at least five authors among those whose paper will be published (one author per paper) and will invite them to attend an expert meeting in FAO-Rome in 2015. Travel expenses will be paid by FAO while all other expenses will have to be covered by the invited participants.
