Rural Finance Development Projects
The Division has the capacity to assist with the planning and development of appropriate strategies, structures and tools for rural financial interventions in a country or region. The Division has a close working partnership with regional networks of leading rural and microfinance networks with which we jointly offer support for policy development and capacity building and training. Under a joint initiative of multiple stakeholders, FAO manages the Rural Finance Learning Centre (RFLC) which offers a large array of resource materials, training guides and distance learning and ready-to-use learning courses. The Division also offers ready-made services to automate banking and rural/micro finance operations and staff training through its banking software MBWin. Additional topical areas in addition to financial services include insurance, value chain finance and financial risk management. The Division has the capacity to develop and support field projects in the areas indicated above.
