Renewable Energy Systems

Each step of the value chain in the food and agricultural industries sector requires energy input. Appropriate, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable supplies of energy are therefore required to support the development of competitive agro-industries. The service plays an active role in disseminating information and in developing studies and projects on the production of renewable energy from agricultural biomass as well as from solar, wind and water powered systems.

The bulletin Renewable Biological Systems for Alternative Sustainable Energy Production addresses the biological and engineering aspects of sustainable energy production, with emphases on fuel alcohol, methane, bio-hydrogen and hydrocarbons produced by microalgae.
