The database originated from ideas developed in collaboration between different institutions involved in
the promotion of Conservation Agriculture, including FAO (Conservation Agriculture Working Group and AFIS),
the German Cooperation (GTZ), the African Conservation Tillage (ACT) network,
ISTRO (International Soil Tillage Research Organization) and the German Association for Conservation Tillage (GKB).
They all contributed in different ways – with staff time, technical and financial inputs –
to the creation of the database. Some manufacturers also participated during the design phase.
