Upcoming Expert Consultation on protein quality

FAO will host an expert meeting on protein quality in Auckland, New Zealand. This will follow the
International Symposium on Dietary Protein for Human Health to be held 27-30 March 2011 in New Zealand. The symposium is organized by the Riddet Institute, Health Canada and FAO. The international symposium will cover a range of topics concerning the role of protein in human nutrition, health and wellbeing.

There will be presentations and discussions on evaluation of protein quality (including concepts and definitions, advances in methodologies, PDCAAS, digestible/available amino acids and regulatory aspects of dietary protein quality. The symposium will bring together international leaders in protein nutrition and related areas and will provide an authoritative update on recent scientific developments of critical importance to human welfare and food security.
