FAO Desert Locust Information Service (DLIS)
Apart from monitoring ecological conditions and locust infestations at the global level, the FAO Desert Locust Information Service (DLIS) spends considerable efforts to strengthen the capacities of nationally-designated locust information officers that work in national locust centres in affected countries. Annual workshops are held for English and French speaking information officers as a forum for informal discussions on the use, problem-solving and improvement of various tools (eLocust2, eLocust2Mapper, RAMSES, remote sensing, social media) used by the officers. The Senior Locust Forecasting Officer, assisted by regional resource persons, conducts the workshop.
