The data arrives at the National Locust Unit Headquarters via HF radio modem connected to a computer that contains a custom geographic information system (GIS) for data management and analysis.
The fixed HF radio and modem are the link between the incoming data and the computerized geographic information system at the Nationa Locust Unit Headquarters.
The computer and the HF radio modem are connected by a simple cable.
