A new network helps to manage animal genetic resources in West and Central Africa

10/01/2012The first agreed global framework for the management of livestock biodiversity, the Global Plan of Action for Animal Genetic Resources, identifies the urgent need for better networking. With FAO's support, a Sub-regional Focal Point for Animal Genetic Resources has been established in West and Central Africa. The focal point will build collaborative partnerships, coordinate regional management of animal genetic resources, and promote information sharing, technical cooperation, training and research. Among the first initiatives has been the establishment of an electronic forum, named DAD-Net West and Central Africa, which has already received 443 contributions from 141 members from 45 countries [click on the link below to read more]
