First regional Research4Life workshop builds research capacity in Eastern Europe

03/10/2019

From 3-4 October 2019, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is hosting the first ever regional Research4Life workshop, open to eligible countries in Eastern Europe. The purpose of the workshop is to strengthen ties with key institutions in the area and promote the use of Research4Life’s free or low-cost databases of scientific and professional resources. The workshop will be held at the State Agrarian University of Moldova in Chișinău.

Information specialists from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, Ukraine, Georgia and Armenia will be in attendance. They will represent, among others, the National University Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, the Armenian National Agrarian University, the National Library of the Republic of Moldova and the Institute Techinformi of the Georgian Technical University.

The workshop will stimulate knowledge-sharing and promote the visibility of and access to scientific resources, including, but not limited to, those in the field of agricultural sciences.

During the workshop, participants from several countries will discuss specific issues in their region with regards to accessing scientific resources. These case studies will be provided to the Research4Life partnership to inform future improvements to the Research4Life portal and service. After these testimonials, there will be training sessions on how to use Research4Life and access information resources through AGORA and other Research4Life programmes.
