Within the broader context of the GoL’s Poverty Reduction Strategy and the National Agriculture Policy and Strategy, and in particular, the Joint Programme on Food Security and Nutrition, the project will contribute to ensuring that all Liberians have access to the food they need, and are able to utilise that food to live active, healthy and productive lives. The project will have three related specific objectives, namely that the number of rural and urban Liberians significantly increased who have:
# sufficient food available through a competitive and revitalised agricultural sector;
# improved access to food through enhanced opportunities for sustained employment, better markets and strengthened safety nets; and
# improved nutritional status through better food utilisation, particularly for the vulnerable groups of pregnant and lactating mothers, children under five and adolescent girls.
