This database provides an overview of the project work undertaken by FAO's Plant Production and Protection Division. Below please find a featured project followed by the latest four projects. Contribute to the development of a mechanism, a protocol and a policy framework essential to addressing some of the weaknesses negating the productive use of both genetic resources anto enhance the efficiency of the seed sector and facilitate teh overall goal of food security, economic growth, environmental sustainability and poverty alleviation in Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The project will also develop foundations for a sustainable, environmentally friendly seed production, supply and trade system, which will represent a new base for regional cooperation and trade in the concerned six countries and Turkey.
To improve food security and livelihoods of farming households in southern Sudan by increasing availability and access to locally produced quality seed/planting materials
The project contributes to the Strategic Objective of FAO A1: Policies and strategies on sustainable crop production intensification and diversification at national and regional levels.
L’agriculture togolaise est caractérisée par un faible taux d’adoption des semences améliorées qui est une forte raison de la faible productivité agricole au niveau national. Le Ministère de l’agriculture, de l’élevage et de la pêche (MAEP) a prévu, dans le cadre de la politique de relance de la production agricole, une série d’activités relatives au développement durable du secteur semencier national.
Build capacity of the Government of Lebanon in the establishment of appropriate national seed policy, assist to review/upgrade/revise/develop appropriate seed regulatory framework designed to facilitate the growth of the seed sector and also ensure efficiency of the system for seed and seedlings production and quality control.
