Hot Water

Hot Water can also be used effectively for the control of some soil-borne pest. The problem is that not everywhere water is plenty available to be used as control agent. 
The method consists of injecting hot water (105 degrees C) in the first 25 cm of soil, which may provide control of some pathogens and insects in soil.
The disadvantage of the method is that it is slow to achieve uniform high temperature in soil. It also requires boilers for heating water.
At present, the method is applied in some areas in Japan and has been tested in Florida, USA.
