The problem here is that plant resistance to a disease or pest may not always be available or that the resistant cultivar developed in one place may not be resistant to the same disease in another area due to change of races. Conventional breeding or genetic engineering
should still work more on this aspect in order to obtain new varieties resistant to the most common soil pathogens.
