Global economic analysis of climate change policies for livestock
The goal of this project is to explore policy options for cost-effectively managing the livestock sector's growing contribution to GHG emissions. Large differences in GHG emission intensities and mitigation opportunities between regions and livestock sectors, mean that mitigation policies could generate significant changes in the global distribution of livestock production, with attendant impacts on trade, and well-being of farm households and consumers.
In this project, some of these impacts are assessed via a modified version of the GTAP model of global trade. This project is a collaboration between AGAL and the Center for Global Trade Analysis.
