The information in SIT can be searched by country or crop.

  1. by country.

    To search information on one or more crops in a particular country, select the country in the drop-down list and then click on the icon NEXT.
    1. Select one or more agro-ecological zones by checking the boxes of the zones that you want to include in your search. To have a full description of the agro-ecological zone including geographic and administrative coverage, as well as the main agricultural practices, click on the INFO icon at the right of the zone. To select all the agro-ecological zones of the country, check the box corresponding to "All agro-ecological zones". Clicking on the INFO icon at the right of "All zones" a table will be displayed with the description of all the agro-ecological zones of the country. Note that at least one agro-ecological zone must be selected to proceed with the search.
    2. Select one or more crops. To do that, you can choose one of the following options:

      Select a group of crops in the "select by group" box. The Crop calendar includes the following groups of crops: CEREALS, LEGUMINOUS CROPS, ROOT/TUBER CROPS, OIL AND SUGAR CROPS, VEGETABLES and OTHER CROPS. You can select more than one group by keeping the 'Ctrl' key pressed while you select the groups with the mouse. To reset your selection click on another group, or go to the other box. Once you have set your selection click on the VIEW icon or the DOWNLOAD icon to download data in Excel format.

      OR

      Select a crop by its common name in the left box of "select by crop". You can select more than one crop by keeping the 'Ctrl' key pressed while you select the crops with the mouse. To reset your selection click on another crop, or go to the other box. Once you have set your selection click on the VIEW icon or the DOWNLOAD icon to download data in Excel format.

      OR

      Select a crop by its scientific name in the right box of "select by scientific name". Some botanical species, depending on the crop practices, can correspond to more than one crop product (e.g. maize for grain and sweet maize); in these cases information on both cropping practices will be displayed. You can select more than one crop by keeping the 'Ctrl' key pressed while you select the crops with the mouse. To reset your selection click on another crop, or go to the other box. Once you have set your selection click on the VIEW icon or the DOWNLOAD icon to download data in Excel format.

    How to read the information displayed on the screen when searching by country?

    For each zone included in your search criteria, a chart will be displayed representing a twelve month calendar. The green bars represent the time frame in which the crops are usually sowed or planted in that zone. The yellow bars represent the time frame in which the crops are usually harvested. The dark green bars represent the preferred sowing/planting time frame. Click on a bar to see detailed information related to the crop, including the sowing/planting rate, the growing period and other information regarding the crop practices.

  2. by crop.

    To search information for a crop in one or more countries, select a crop in the drop-down list and then click on the icon NEXT.

    Select a region in the "select region" box. To reset your selection click on another region, or go to the other box. Once you have set your selection click on the VIEW icon or the DOWNLOAD icon to download data in Excel format.

    OR

    Select one or more countries in the left box of "select country/ies". You can select more than one country by keeping the 'Ctrl' key pressed while you select the countries with the mouse. To reset your selection click on another country, or go to the other box. Once you have set your selection click on the VIEW icon or the DOWNLOAD icon to download data in Excel format.

    You always can change the crop of your search in the drop-down list at the top of the page.

    How to read the information when searching by crop?
