Introduction
AgMES is the metadata standard developed by FAO for the description and discovery of agricultural information resources. This standard is an extension of Dublin Core and its utility rests in the fact that it promotes the use of metadata elements/schemes/refinements that are important for the description of information resources in the domain of Agriculture. Thus, AgMES as a namespace, defining the elements and refinements that are ONLY EXTENSIONS to those defined by DC and AGLS, must always co-exist concurrently with them.
The contents of this page are designed to serve as a quick-to-use reference.
It documents all the elements/refinements/schemes endorsed by the AgMES. The
elements are taken from the following namespaces:
Consequently, AgMES compliant application profiles (APs) for different applications, such as AGRIS resources, Web Pages, etc., are developed by selecting the appropriate elements from the AgMES endorsements listed below.

| Definition: | Internet RFC 3066 'Tags for the Identification of Languages' specifies a primary subtag which is a two-letter code taken from ISO 639 part 1 or a three-letter code taken from ISO 639 part 2, followed optionally by a two-letter country code taken from ISO 3166. When a language in ISO 639 has both a two-letter and three-letter code, use the two-letter code; when it has only a three-letter code, use the three-letter code. This RFC replaces RFC 1766. | |
