First Workshop on the Agricultural Ontology Service (AOS) Project, FAO Headquarters Rome 14-15 November 2001 Open Invitation to interested participantsOn-line documents
Dear Colleague,
Towards the beginning of this summer we presented a concept note for an "Agricultural Ontology Service" (AOS) project being developed here at FAO of the UN. The AOS will consist of an ontology and its accompanying tools designed to serve the entire agricultural community -- a central reference system containing agricultural and related terminology, definitions and relationships.
We are now organising a kick-off workshop. Your involvement in this workshop will assist us in modelling a successful project, and will give us the opportunity to coordinate partner involvement.
The workshop will take place on November 14 and 15 in Rome, Italy. Our tentative agenda for the workshop is as follows:
- Introduction to the Agricultural Ontology Service (AOS) project
- Discussion of the latest concept paper draft, including comments received to date
- Breakout groups discussing:
Scope of the Project
Satellite and Pilot Projects
Infrastructure and Technology
Ontology Creation
Usability and User Testing
Funding Strategy
- Constitution of a working group to draft the project proposal
We will be sending a compilation of all the comments received from interested parties in the first week of November to all participants. We will also post that on this site.
Please register for the workshop by November 2.
We look forward to seeing you!
