Os cursos de agroecologia têm crescido nos últimos anos e sua introdução nas instituições de
ensino se deu, em especial, a partir dos anos 2000. Desde então, diversos cursos são criados anualmente. No entanto, são poucos e dispersos os estudos que realizam uma análise quantitativa sistematizada sobre o ensino da agroecologia no Brasil. O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar os cursos em agroecologia, no âmbito da educação formal, que estão em funcionamento no Brasil, por região geográfica e nível de formação. Trata-se de uma pesquisa quantitativa utilizando como método um estudo exploratório descritivo em que foi realizado levantamento nos sites governamentais aliado ao envio de e-mails e ligações telefônicas para as instituições de ensino. Identificou-se, até o final de 2013, 136 cursos em funcionamento, sendo 108 cursos de nível técnico, 24 cursos de graduação e 4 cursos de pós-graduação stricto sensu, sendo que a maioria dos cursos se concentra na região nordeste. Ao final da pesquisa constatou-se que as instituições de ensino ainda estão tentando descobrir o “como fazer” o ensino em agroecologia de forma a contemplar suas diversas dimensões.

The agroecology courses have grown the last years, and its introduction in educational institutions began especially from the 2000s. Since then, several courses are created annually. However, there are few and spread studies that perform a systematic quantitative analysis of courses in agroecology in Brazil. This study aimed to identify the courses in agroecology, in formal education, that are in operation in Brazil, by geographic area and level of education. This is a quantitative research with an exploratory descriptive study by searching on government sites and sending e - mails and phone calls to the educational institutions. Until the end of 2013, 136 courses were identified, with 108 professional courses, 24 undergraduate and 4 postgraduate courses, with the majority of the courses focuses on the northeastern region. At the end of the survey it was found that the educational institutions are still trying to figure out "how to" teach Agroecology in order to attend its various dimensions.
