Eighth International Conference on Agroecology

The research group in Ecological Economics, Agroecology and History of the University of Vigo, in collaboration with the Agroecological Nucleus of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (Brazil), launch the VIII International Congress of Agroecology that will take place in Vigo from 2 to 3  July. 

The central theme of the congress will revolve around food policies for sustainability and will be structured according to the political, socio-economic and technical-productive dimensions. Public policies to boost agroecological initiatives, the global economy and community action as well as public institutions as food demanders will be themes included in the political block. The socio-economic dimensions will allude to new forms of knowledge and ownership for sustainability, ethics, Feminisms and education for agroecology. Eventually, the agro-ecological management of agro-livestock and forestry systems, the strategies for the conservation of biodiversity and the agri-food chain will be tackled as part of the technical-productive dimension.

The 8th International Congress of Agroecology is a call for governments, scientists, social movements, companies, individuals and communities to share social, political and institutional processes in which they are integrated.

The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 27 March.

Organization: The research group in Ecological Economics, Agroecology and History of the University of Vigo organize this conference in collaboration with the Agroecological Nucleus of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (Brazil). The Congress has the collaboration of the Juana de Vega Foundation and the University of Vigo. In addition, the Latin American Society of Agroecology, Rede Revolta, formed within the Galician university system, the Institute of Sociology and Peasant Studies of the University of Córdoba, and the Food Sovereignty magazine, form the broad collaboration network that supports this Congress.
