The VIII International Congress on Agroecology will be held ONLINE on 1-3 of July

The research group in Ecological Economy, Agroecology and History of the University of Vigo, in collaboration with the Agroecological Centre of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (Brazil), is launching the VIII International Congress of Agroecology to be held in Vigo on July 1, 2 and 3, 2020. The central theme of the congress will revolve around food policies for sustainability.

Two keynote speeches by Steve Gliessman and Emma Siliprandi will be delivered during the congress. Glissman's presentation will focus on "Agroecology: A History of Resistance Still in Progress". Emma Siliprandi, FAO Agricultural Officer, will focus on "Agroecology on the International Agenda: Reflections from ongoing experiences".

There will also be six round tables on food policies, extensive livestock farming, feminism, business sustainability and the role of agroecology in political systems. This will be complemented by the celebration of 4 discussion workshops on such relevant topics as the responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, the strategies for the dissemination of agroecology, the fight for equality and the dialogue on agroecological logistics in territorialized systems.

Researchers from more than 80 research centres, public and personal collective entities from Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Venezuela, Chile, the United States, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, and of course, a wide representation of all the territories in Spain are participating.
