Call for contributors: Doing Participatory Action Research (PAR) in a time of COVID -19 and Beyond

The specter of the growing impact of pandemics, coupled with the increasing climate crisis, raises important questions for activists and researchers involved in research in rural areas, whether using participatory or non-participatory approaches, to reflect on and approach research differently. This research topic aims to gather different methods, experiences, and resources to facilitate Participatory Action Research (PAR) by practitioners from diverse countries and cultural contexts. The deadline for submission is  17 March 2021.

The research topic explores creative methodological approaches and stimulates critical thinking about ethics and principles. The research is interested in experiences or proposals for adapting PAR methods and tools, including associated challenges for inclusion, representation, and rigor.

They invite study contributions that are not limited to the following questions:

1. How do remote and virtual ways of conducting fieldwork affect the power imbalances in the researcher-participant relationship?

2. To what extent can the pandemic foster new opportunities to build capacity to conduct research?

3. How can we support knowledge co-production, co-facilitation, and co-analysis remotely, and which tools might be helpful?
