The Seed Vault Flooding Is Only the Start of Our Problems
Built in the permafrost, the ten-year-old Svalbard Global Seed Vault, which currently contains 850,000 food crop seed varieties, was supposed to take care of itself, to operate “without the help of humans.” Unfortunately, just last week [May 2017] the massive refrigerator in an abandoned coalmine made headlines for needing our help.
