Workshop on Challenges for Agroecology Development for the Building of Sustainable Agri-Food Systems, 14-15 November

The ''Workshop on Challenges for Agroecology Development for the Building of Sustainable Agri-food Systems'' will be held at the University of Chile on 11-13 November 2019.

The aim of the workshop is to promote the transition from conventional agriculture towards agroecology as a science, practice and social movement, sharing the experiences of different OECD countries.

The experts come from different parts of the world as Miguel Altieri, Paola Migliorini or Walter Rossing and from different sectors like Academia, Ministries of Agriculture or Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). They will identify the main gaps and advances related to agroecological development, with the aim of developing a proposal to promote agroecology in the OECD countries.

The Workshop will be focus on four main topics:

1. Agroecology development in OECD countries: local experiences and international collaboration
2. Agricultural public policies and agroecology as a social movement
3. Agroecology education to promote sustainable agri-food systems
4. Science, innovation and technologies in agroecological systems

The workshop is sponsored by the OECD Co-operative Research Programme: Biological Resource Management for Sustainable Agricultural Systems. Additionally, a training course focused on agroecology will be offered. This will be carried out in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Chile, on November 14 and 15, 2019. 

The workshop will be in English with simultaneous translation into Spanish.
