EVENT - Scaling up Agroecolgy! For forward looking decision-making in policy and practice

18 January 2019, 15:30-17:30, Berlin, Germany

03/01/2019 -

To mark the International Green Week 2019, the World Future Council - together with a broad coalition of organizations committed to sustainable food systems - is hosting a panel discussion on Friday, 18 January 2019 (15:30 - 17:30) in Berlin. The aim is to promote the strengthening and scaling up of agroecology in politics and practice in Germany and beyond. The panel discussion will take place at  the Heinrich Böll Foundation, Schumannstr. 8, 10117 Berlin, Germany.

It has long been recognized that agroecological systems are more productive and feed more people in a healthier way. The Future Policy Award 2018 winners (https://www.worldfuturecouncil.org/p/2018-agroecology/), as well as excellent practice examples, show that exemplary solutions already exist. How can we create an environment in which agroecology can thrive? These and other burning questions will be discussed by journalist Dr. Tanja Busse with representatives of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the German NGO Agroecology Alliance and our Supervisory Board Chairman Prof. Dr. Franz-Theo Gottwald.
