Alliance for Agroecology in West Africa (3AO) Meeting in Senegal, 27-29 January

22/01/2020 -

The Alliance for Agroecology in West Africa (3AO) is a coordination and information platform composed of farmers' organizations, research institutes / universities, international NGOs and social movements. Created in April 2018, 41 participants, representing 31 organizations, came together in Dakar to develop a joint strategy to support the transition to agroecology and sustainable food systems in West Africa. Some 20 organizations have since joined the Alliance – now made up of more than 50 members.

3AO aims to promote and support an agroecological transition in West Africa to ensure resilient, sustainable livelihoods adapted to local agricultural challenges.Through a series of concrete and concerted actions, 3AO aims to create synergies between different scales and organizations to strengthen research and advocacy efforts in favour of agroecology, while providing greater visibility to the agroecological movement in West Africa.

As 2018-2019 served to frame, pilot, and launch their collective work, the steering committee now wishes to bring together all member organizations of 3AO in this meeting that will take place from 27 to 29 January 2020 in Dakar.

The meeting will provide a framework to highlight the progress of 3AO collective initiatives, refine the implementation strategy of the 3AO action plan to achieve shared goals, coordinate 3AO activities at the regional level.
