Mercados de agricultores en Westmoreland y St. Ann el 11 de mayo
As the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries and RADA continues its thrust to take-off excess produce, both institutions will on Wednesday, May 11 host farmers markets at the Norman Manley Sea Park, Westmoreland and White River (across from San Souci) in St. Ann. The markets are slated to run from 6:00am – 6:00pm.
A wide assortment of fruits, vegetables, ground provision and other value-added products will be available for sale at all markets. However, the Negril market is expected to cater to in addition to householders - small hoteliers, villas and the general public. Staging of the event in that parish has been supported by the Jamaica Hotel and Tourism Association (JHTA).
Meanwhile, the next round of monthly farmers market will be held on Wednesday, May 25 in:
St. Catherine – Portmore Heart Academy;
Portland - Folly Oval, Port Antonio;
Westmoreland – Norman Manley Sea Park (near the roundabout) Negril;
St. Andrew – the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries’ Football Field (Hope Gardens);
Manchester – RADA Parish Office Compound, Caledonia Road;
St. James – RADA Parish Office Compound, Catherine Hall; and
St. Mary - All Island Banana Growers Boxing Plant.
