International Symposium Rain Water Harvesting Technologies, Addis Ababa 1-12 June 2015

AgWA’s team in Addis Ababa participate to the first two days High Level Policy Dialogue  of the workshop.

The first day (June 1th 2015), one member of AgWA’s team and its coordinator attended the first and second session of the day. In particular, they were present for the opening ceremony and the food security transversal session of the workshop. During this session, Fethi Lebdi presented a presentation on the main findings and lessons learned from the Project “Strengthening Agricultural Water Efficiency and productivity of the African and Global Level “(GCP/INT/231/SWI) focusing on Burkina Faso, Morocco and Uganda. During the session, another member of AgWA’s team (Sara Datturi) was the rapporteur. Another AgWA’s member team Koen Joosten was the rapporteur for the session “ Technical Innovation”.

Fethi Lebdi moderated the plenary session of June 1th. Inputs from this plenary session were integrated with the second day high level policy workshop, where other findings on WASH were presented. In the final session of the second day, AgWA’s team participate in finalizing the declaration of this International Symposium on Rain Water Harvesting Technologies.

The role of AgWA once again demonstrates the high level of interaction and harmonization between all stakeholders’ working in Africa on agricultural water management. AgWA’s attendance to this symposium brought more technical insights and reflection points on the interaction between rainwater harvestings technologies and their interaction with the other socio-economic aspects of agricultural water management. Furthermore, the opportunity to presents of the partnership’s project outputs increased AgWA’s visibility.
