Agstandards
This is a forum established for discussing metadata standards and the development of multilingual thesauri and ontologies.
AGROVOC
AGROVOC is a multilingual structured and controlled vocabulary designed to cover the terminology of all subject fields in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, food and related domains (e.g. environment). It is a Thesaurus, i.e. a controlled set of words or expressions (terms), in different languages and organized in relationships (e.g. "broader", "narrower" and "related"), used to identify or search resources.
AGRIS Application Profile
This workspace is for members of the AGRIS community who wish to export their data to the central database in XML format using the guidelines given in the AGRIS AP document. It will facilitate exchange of ideas on issues related to implementation of exporting metadata from local database in XML. The list also encourages discussions regarding the possibilities of moving from XML towards an RDF based exchange of metadata. All the participants are encouraged to share their ideas and implementation experiences for others to learn from.
Coherence in agricultural information services
As the number of ICT-enabled information services increases, the intended user risks being swamped with possibilities to address his or her information needs. The challenge faced by donor-supported agricultural information services is to make it easier for those who need information to find what they are looking for by working together to build a more coherent online environment. (This workspace is supported by DFID, UK)
IAALD
The International Association of Agricultural Information Specialists (IAALD) is the leading global community of practice for information specialists serving agriculture and related disciplines. The Association has a members-only discussion list.
Webagris
AGRIS Resource centres are encouraged to upgrade their data input facilities from the previous ISIS Dos to the new WebAGRIS system. WebAGRIS offers greater functionality, and a more user-friendly environment. The system uses WWW-ISIS software for publishing ISIS databases on the web.
