Coherence in Agricultural Information, Lexington, USA, 19-20 May 2005
Introduction
With the financial support from DFID, FAO prepared a workshop at the IAALD 2005 world congress to give momentum to the process of bringing coherence to agricultural information services. The envisaged workshop discussed:
- institutional arrangements and governance issues of the proposed clearinghouse mechanism, especially the establishment of a common Web site; and
- initiatives for standardization in the area of textual information (such as documents/publications, projects, events) and possible services based on these standard initiatives.
FAO offers to act as a neutral broker and to host the clearinghouse mechanism. The development that took place in the last 5 years should be reviewed and future mechanism on cooperative governance and initiatives for standards and content reuse should be initiated.
