Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean will meet at the FAO Regional Conference to set the Organization's priorities

On Monday, October 19, the Regional Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will begin.

The 36th Regional Conference brings together all FAO member countries in the region to establish the Organization's regional priorities for the next two years, with Nicaragua as the host country for this version.

At the Conference, FAO will report on the results achieved in the period 2018-2019. In addition, it will help countries to find joint solutions to the challenges of food security, rural development, innovation, climate change and sustainable agriculture, fisheries, livestock and forestry.

The Conference will focus on transforming food systems for healthy diets for all, moving hand-in-Hand towards prosperous and inclusive rural societies, Sustainable and climate resilient agriculture, and driving innovation and digital agriculture.

FAO DIRECTOR GENERAL

The FAO Director General, Qu Dongyu, will open the Conference on October 19 at 10:00 am Chile; 7 am Nicaragua.
