Bridging the digital divide and bringing digital agricultural innovations to smallholders and small scale enterprises.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) are jointly organizing a three day virtual “Digital Agriculture Solutions Forum for Asia and the Pacific” from November 30 to December 2, 2020.

Following the success of the previous two bi-yearly E-agriculture Solutions Forum (Thailand 2016, China 2018), FAO and ITU are organizing this year virtual Digital Agriculture Solutions Forum under the theme: “Bridging the digital divide and bringing digital agricultural innovations to smallholders and small scale enterprises”.

The main objectives include:

 (1) Building back better through sustainable digital interventions (or solutions) for agriculture and providing responses to on-going COVID crisis while targeting longer-term digital transformation of the agriculture sector.

(2) Transforming agriculture and supporting rural communities jobs, livelihoods and local economies through sustainable digital solutions.

(3) Sustaining digital solutions and promoting innovations by attracting investments and by bridging the digital divide and fostering rural agripreneurs.

(4) Showcasing successful solutions and identifying lessons learnt in the design, development and deployment of digital agriculture services and solutions and their broad-based access.

This year’s forum will bring together stakeholders from the agriculture and the ICT sectors involved in developing and deploying ICT for agriculture solutions. The three-day (3 sessions, 2 hours each) forum would include keynote speakers and panellists from a wide-ranging spectrum of expertise on digital innovations, policies and technology developers, users and beneficiaries. A dedicated web site will feature supplemental information, brochures and videos related to the Forum’s themes as well as a dialogue area for participants where they can exchange knowledge, experiences and network.
