The global manager of the Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD) programme of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Wantanee Kalpravidh, was today awarded an honorary plaque from the Swine Raisers Association of Thailand.

The honorary plaque was in recognition of her leadership in efforts to address African swine fever (ASF) globally, specifically her support in the control and prevention program of ASF in Thailand.

Before managing the FAO global ECTAD programme, Kalpravidh managed the ECTAD Programme in Asia and technically supported and assisted countries in addressing and managing transboundary animal diseases such as ASF, avian influenza, foot and mouth disease including antimicrobial resistance and related threats.

FAO through its ECTAD programme globally continues to plan and deliver veterinary assistance to FAO member countries responding to the threat of transboundary animal health crises. ECTAD has supported countries in building capacity to prevent, detect and respond to zoonotic and non-zoonotic diseases.
