Primary school students call in at FAO

A group of students from Sauniatu Primary School visited the FAO office to learn more about the organization and what they do in the region. Accompanied by their teachers year seven and eight students were welcomed by FAO staff at Subregional Office in Apia, Samoa.

Assistant FAO Representative, Philip Tuivavalagi gave a brief introduction of the organization before staff began the rest of the programme which included a fun quiz to test the students’ knowledge of FAO followed by a short video documentary on community-based fisheries programme in Samoa, Tonga and Fiji titled, Voices of the Pacific.

The students left FAO with caps and an information package to take home. FAO was one stop of a tour of UN agencies the students visited. 

FAO has five main strategic objectives:
Help eliminate hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition,
Make agriculture, forestry and fisheries more productive and sustainable,
Reduce rural poverty,
Enable inclusive and efficient agricultural and food systems,
Increase the resilience of livelihood from disasters.
