New Food Safety and Nutrition Consultant arrives in Samoa
The FAO Subregional Office of the Pacific Island is pleased to welcome Ms Ann Hayman in her role of Food Safety and Nutrition Consultant in Apia, Samoa.
Ann joins the Subregional Office from New Zealand where she worked for the Ministry for Primary Industries. She has had positions with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, New Zealand Food Safety Authority and Food Standards Australia New Zealand as a manager, senior program manager, specialist adviser and senior nutritionist.
“The combination of food safety and nutrition in one role is very attractive to me. The impact of food on health and the economy is important to everyone”. Said Ms Hayman.
Ann brings experience in roles in domestic food safety, government certification of export food, nutrition and composition, and Codex.
She has lead and been involved in the development and implementation of food safety legislation and standards for a broad range of foods including fresh produce, infant formula, processed foods, dairy products, wine and organics from farm production through to processing and consumption.

A New Zealand national, Ann holds a B Tech in Food Technology and a Master Degree in Nutritional Science from Massey University, and a post graduate Certificate in International Food Laws from Michigan State University. She has been a delegate and head of delegation for New Zealand at Codex Committees.
