The Offshore Systems Development and Support Centre (OSDSC) was established in September 2005 as an extension of the former FAO Knowledge and Communication Technology (KCT) Division, which after Organizational restructuring in 2010, has become the Chief Information Officer (CIO) Division.
Located in Bangkok, Thailand, the initial mandate of the centre was to assist in the development of customizations required for the implementation of various modules of the Organization's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The success of this initiative resulted in an expansion of OSDSC in 2007.
Today the centre provides application development and support services for multiple FAO systems as well as systems security services. Plans are underway to utilize this facility for other IT work, including the provision of direct support to decentralized offices in the region.
The OSDSC offices are located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya river, some 3.5 km from the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. The centre operations are supported by up-to-date IT infrastructure and direct line connectivity to FAO headquarters IT systems.
OSDSC currently employs nine staff members and over 25 consultants. Day-to-day operations of the centre are managed locally by an Operations Manager.
