Elias dos Santos Ferreira, Director General of Statistics, Ministry of Finance Timor-Leste, was jointed with National Directorate of Statistics since 2002 but in 2001 was project Manager for Poverty Survey 2001, 2007 and 2014.
In 2003 was Project Manager for Timor-Leste Demographic and Heath Survey in 2003, 2000/10 and 2016.
Project Manager for Population and Housing Census 2004, 2010 and 2015.
Elias was occupied National Director for Statistic since 2009 – 2013, National Director for Methodology and data Collection since 2013 – 2016.
In July 01, 2016 was occupied Director General for Statistics, Ministry of Finance up t now.
Elias was finalizing Master Degree in Magister Management in Gajayana University Indonesia and have experience more 28 years in the Statistics area.
The main responsibility is:
1. To collect, compile, analyze and publish statistical information relating to the social, Demographic, commercial, industrial, financial, economic, environmental and general activities and condition of the people;
2. To collaborate with departments of Government in the collection, compilation and publication of statistical information, including statistics derived from the activities of those departments;
3. To promote the avoidance of duplication in the information collected by departments of government;
4. Generally, to promote and develop integrated social and economic statistics pertaining to the whole of Timor-Leste and to each of the regions thereof, and to coordinate plans for theintegration of those statistics.
