11 Nov 2012 -- The Sub-regional Office for the Pacific Islands of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Apia, Samoa, has appointed Ms. Ramona Stephanie Sulifoa as Programme Assistant for the FAO Office in Apia.
Prior to joining FAO, Ms Sulifoa has worked in the Quarantine area and later became the Information and Networking Manager for USP-IRETA based in Samoa. She then went on to be the Head of the Agriculture Department in one of the private high schools in Samoa and was also contracted by the Ministry of Education to set and be the chief marker for the Agriculture Science School Certificate papers. Ms. Sulifoa moved to the Solomon Islands and worked for the UNDP Environment Programme. Upon returning to Samoa she worked for the New Zealand High Commission managing the Scholarships and Training Programme. Ms Sulifoa was recently with the GEF UNDP, Small Grants Programme based in Samoa where she worked with local communities on the implementation of environment related projects. Her main interests are carrying out research with a focus on improving food security and income generation for the local communities.
Among other tasks, Ms Sulifoa will be assisting member countries on the TeleFood programme as well as the World Food Day (WFD), she will also focus on policy and communications work.
